With shooters like DOOM, Call of Duty, and Battlefield, it’s hard to imagine a shooter that isn’t rated Mature by the ESRB. But leave it to Nintendo to find a way to create a shooter experience rated Everyone 10+ and make it fun!
Splatoon is a third person shooter where you run around shooting your enemies and the environment with colorful ink. The gameplay is shear chaos and fun just to watch. Multiplayer has some classic modes similar to capture the flag and king of the hill, called Rainmaker and Splat Zones respectively. The colorful chaos is making a return with Splatoon 2 coming out later this year.
But for those lucky folks that already have their Switch you can get a taste of the ink-staining madness early with Splatoon 2 Global Testfire happening this weekend, March 24th-26th. You can download the trial through Nintendo’s eShop so that you are ready to go when the servers turn on.
The trial will feature two maps that are chosen at random for 4v4 matches. Basic weaponry will be available, but it’s clear that Nintendo is keeping the bulk of the content and features behind locked doors until the game is officially released. Servers will only be up for limited times throughout the weekend, so checkout the schedule below and make sure you plan ahead if you want in on the action.
